Check Out My Mom Blog!

Maybe it’s just me, but lately I have been rather stressed as a mom. But it’s not exactly because my kids are going psycho or that I just don’t have seven hands and 52 hours in a day to get everything done. It has more to do with being judged—constantly! It seems to me that a mom has two options. She can be viewed as the “Hypochondriac Mom”. One who worries way too much, or rather “freaks out” because she takes her child to the doctor when he is sick, wants to know when there are recalls, tries to keep up on the latest “best practice”, and washes a binky after it falls on the floor so that her child isn’t eating dirt. Option two is to be viewed as the “Careless Mom” (borderline referral to social services). This is a mom who tries to keep herself composed in crisis situations rather than “freaking out”, says to herself, “it’s okay if he eats a few Cheerios off the floor”, doesn’t hover over a toddling child and allows him to get a few bumps as he learns to walk, and basically tries to pick her battles in order to keep her sanity.

Do you find yourself saying, “Hey I do some things in both of those categories!” Me too; but unfortunately every one judging us doesn’t realize that there could possibly be a third category, something like...

Goodbye Inversion...Hello St. George

Wow I feel spoiled!  Last year, Tyrel and his boss decided that if they made their goals for the year (as far as what they would bring into the company, etc.) then they would do a business retreat trip in January.  Well, they did it and we got to go to Saint George, just as couples!  My wonderful mom and everyone else at her house watched our boys, which was a huge blessing, I didn't even have to worry abou them!

Tyrel, Mitch, Mary, and I loaded up the van and left the yucky Salt Lake inversion and cold temps. to go play in St. George for 3 days.  It was awesome when we came over the hill at one point and finally saw the sun!  As we drove through town, we even rolled down the windows to take in the warmth!

We did so many fun things on our trip, I’m thinking that we need to make a trip to St. George in the winter an annual event! We ate at many yummy places—too many probably! Mary and I went shopping at the outlet mall while the boys went to visit some clients. And Mary and I both agreed it was nice to go shopping without a stroller!
The next day we went on a biking trail through the red rocks and desert area—it was awesome! At first I thought I was going to die! It was straight uphill and I am super out-of-shape! Tyrel and I ended up walking our bikes up the last part of it. Next was a terrifying downhill, I also thought I was going to die! I get pretty scared going downhill at high speeds, it makes me feel out of control. But after a few of those, it was perfect. Just enough steepness in the down hills to give me an adrenaline rush but not scare me out of my wits. Just enough physical work to give me a workout but not make me need to walk it. And it was a bunch of turns and ups and downs to be so fun!
Mary and I even went golfing with the boys. I’ve never been golfing before and I had an excellent time. I was pretty nervous about being embarrassingly awful, but I didn’t do too terribly, in fact, I even had some good shots. I especially loved driving the golf cart. We were at a country club and I couldn’t believe how high end it was and how premo we were treated!  In fact, they had a dress code, no jeans and collared shirts were mandatory.  Well I don't even own a polo shirt, so I packed this puffy sleeved baby doll top (it was that or my cowgirl shirt) and I felt ridiculous!  When we walked into the clubhouse, they were having a 70% OFF sale and I immediately began looking at the polo shirts.  So, I spontaneously bought a $70 shirt for $20, it's amazing how  I'm all the sudden okay buying something impulsively if it will get me out of an embarrassing situation.  After that, I looked like I go golfing all the time.  Overall it was an awesome weekend. A break I truly needed and a great way to get rid of my stress! But I’ll say this, it was so great to get back to our kids. We missed them so much! They were so happy to see us too.

One Big Party...Now Let's Get Back to Real Life!

Wow we sure have been having one BIG party for about a month now!  We were so spoiled this Christmas with all the time we got to spend with family.  Tyrel saved up his days off and we were able to be in Idaho for a week and a half.  We sure had a blast, Silas just loves being on the farm...Don't we all!

IDAHO HIGHLIGHTS
Darian and Cassie's graduation from BYU-Idaho--Congrats guys, we love you!
Riding on the snow mobiles!--We hoped for snow everyday so that we could use them.  It was SO cold though, we only rode for a little bit.
Playing TRAINS--Janet smoked us!
Cooking with Mom King--and mostly eating all of her YUMMY food!
Playing with Janet!--it was great to have a sister to spend Christmas with since mine were back in Utah!
Watching Silas and Logan play with their uncles--He can't get enough of those uncles!

We came home from a long and great vacation to even more partying and time with family!  Jon, Chelsy, and Baby Daniel were still here visiting for another week and a half.  Before we left for Idaho, we did our gift exchange and breakfast.  When we cam home we played lots of Wii and lots of TRAINS!  We have now gotten Jon and Chelsy addicted to the woderful game of Ticket to Ride.  On Monday we celebrated mine and Chelsy's birthdays and mom made an awesome ice cream cake...yum!  Then last night, as a final shabang we had a DANCE PARTY!  It was great times and I was sure tired by the end of the night.  We said our goodbyes before they headed back to Montana.  Jon will be headed off to basic training in a few days and we'll sure miss him!  But we are lucky enough to have Chelsy and Daniel come back and stay with Mom and Pa for a few months.  I look forward to lots of playing with them!

So this brings me to today...my birthday.  As a birthday present to myself, I am blogging, facebooking, and listening to my new music during nap time, rather than doing any housework!  When Tyrel gets home we are going to get Jambas and on Saturday we are going to go swimmig with the boys at the rec.center.

I have been working like crazy to get ORGANIZED because I just can't stand the chaos and the clutter and the disorder ANY MORE!  I have found this awesome website with some great ideas and encoragement, you should all check it out!  http://justorganizeyourself.blogspot.com/

HAPPY 2010!

I LOVE thse crazy boys!

Families Are Forever

We had the BEST Thanksgiving weekend!  What could be better than spending time with family and eating LOTS and LOTS of great food?!  I'll tell you what...doing all that and then spending time together in the temple as a family.  I'm so grateful for the blessings of the temple and I know that through them, we can be sealed together as families FOREVER.

Back to September

So it turns out that when you start a business, it takes all of your extra time and then some!  So I started selling Avon a few weeks ago and I am having a lot of fun with it!  If you are every interested in buying Avon products for yourself or for gifts, etc. you can check out my website (the link is to the right of this post).  However, now I am going to post all of September since I have been so busy, so here goes:

We went on our first camping trip since two days before Silas was born and Silas LOVES camping!  We went to Antelope Island which is very low-key camping with no shade and no campfires, only briquettes.  On Saturday we went on a hike along the lake that ended up being SO long, we had to hitch a ride from a random guy back to camp. (They should probably post at the start of the trail how long it is, and that you should leave a vehicle at the other end of the trail because they don't meet!) Live and learn.

On September 21, we had a new nephew born.  Jon and Chelsy named their baby Daniel Morgan Vargas.  Mom and baby are both well and we can't wait until Thanksgiving to meet him! Sorry no pics because no one will send me any!

We went to the Brazillian Festival they had at the Gateway and discovered that Silas is scared of balloons.  We tried to have a clown make him a balloon hat and he freaked out and wouldn't get anywhere near it.  So now we know, don't waste your time wating in line for a balloon animal for a 2-year old.

Logan is getting huge and is very alert and playful now!  He growls all the time...LOUD growls, you would think there was a wild animal in the room!  Silas just loves to play with him and won't let any kids near him, "No! Don't touch my brother!" he says.  The rest of these pictures are of random things that my boys do to make me smile!
