Wheeler's Farm

I have changed my display background in hopes that the sun will come back out! We decided that if Baby Brother is going to take so long to get here, we needed to start planning some things to do instead of sitting around planning that he would already be here! So last weekend we went to Wheeler's Farm where they were having Summer Stampede. It was only $2 to get in and they had all these fun things we could do. Silas loved it! Now we just need a plan for this weekend!

We let Silas do a pony ride and he LOVED it! We were worried that he would be scared and start crying once we got him on, but he was a natural! He just rode with one hand on the saddle horn and waved at us the other time. He didn't even mind when Tyrel wasn't right next to him!

Silas' Second Birthday Party

I decided I'd better hurry up and post these before we have another birthday to post about. We had so much fun celebrating Silas' birthday at the Bountiful Park. We had lots of family and friends there...thanks everyone who was able to make it! These pictures are just in a random order but they show all the fun we had. I never thought I would have so much fun planning and putting on birthday parties for my kids! We sure love Si-bug and are glad to have had him around for two years already!

After the party, he was putting the candles in the Melmo cupcakes so he could blow them out again.

Silas is pretty possessive of his things, but Porter found a chance when Silas was away and got his turn to play with all the fun toys.

Riley and Ally sure went at it with the water guns. Good thing Tammy and Rick's kids came or there would have been no kids to play!

Silas loved the concept of the squirt gun, but he couldn't figure out that he had to point it away from himself, so he kept squirting himself in the face!

This is after the pinata had been "broken" and dumped. He just loved hitting it again and again.

We Love You Blaze

Our little nephew Blaze returned to live with his Father in Heaven on Thursday. Because he was born so early, his body was afflicted in so many ways including brain hemorages, a hole in his heart, and seizures. It is good to know that he does not have to suffer any more. We sure love Blaze and he has a special place in our hearts. We are glad for the week he got to spend on this earth and that we got to spend some time with him. We take comfort to know that families can be together forever and that we will be able to see Blaze again and his parents will have the chance to raise him in the next life. Please keep his parents Janet and Ray in your prayers. Our hearts break for them at this trial they have to go through. We love you guys!

Create Something Beautiful

In the October General Relief Society meeting, President Uchtdorf gave a talk called, "Happiness, Your Heritage". He talked about our need to create something beautiful. I really liked his talk a lot.

"The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul. No matter our talents, education, backgrounds, or abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before.
Everyone can create. You don’t need money, position, or influence in order to create something of substance or beauty.
Creation brings deep satisfaction and fulfillment. We develop ourselves and others when we take unorganized matter into our hands and mold it into something of beauty—and I am not talking about the process of cleaning the rooms of your teenage children."

Well over the past few months I have been working on many projects where I have "created" something and I now want to share them.

Tyrel and I bought this dresser from D.I. I didn't take a before picture but it used to be ugly cream-colored, chipped, and spray painted purple and green in spots. We sanded it, primed it, and painted it and now it has become the start of the "blue" theme for our little boys' room.

This sign used to be green and white, but I changed it to make it match the rest of the room.

How do you decorate when you are renting and can't paint the walls or even hang sturdy curtain rods? Well this is what I came up with. Thanks to Elise, my college roomy who taught me it. In case you can't tell, these are pictures from Sesame Street that are hanging as is from a clothes line. The next one are pictures of Christ, the temple, and the prophet.

For Silas' birthday party we wanted to have a pinata. My Abuelita (Grandma in Spanish) offered to make the pinata for us. I asked if I could help so one afternoon I went over to her house and she taught me how to make it. We had a good time. Incase you are wondering, it is a carrot.

For Silas' party we also wanted to have some Elmo cupcakes, being that Silas is obsessed with "Melmo". So Izzy came over and taught me how to make them. Then Steph came over later that day and helped me finish decorating them.

And last, I bought a piece of Elmo fleece and made a quilt for Silas for his birthday. On the back, I just stitched around the shapes with embrodiery floss and then I binded the two together with my new sewing machine--thanks family! I couldn't get a picture of it just laying there because Silas wouldn't stop laying on it or taking it away.

So that is a sum. of my projects, I thought I better show them now because after Baby Brother comes, I'm sure it will be a while before I get anything done!

So Much Good News!

We have had many blessings and bits of good news lately, I thought I would share some.

#1: Our little nephew Blaze decided he wanted to come into this world at only 26 weeks. So far he is a fighter and is becoming stronger each day. We love our little nephew, thanks for making us aunt and uncle for the first time! His parents are so strong and we love them! We continue to pray for all three of you!

#2: Tyrel passed his last licensing exam and no longer has to study for any tests or take any for that matter! And he was featured in his company newsletter, this is one of the pictures they took for it. So if anyone is looking for life insurance, IRA's, or other types of investments, Tyrel is your guy!

#3: The weather is beautiful here and we love playing outside! Our swamp cooler is getting set up today, and our pool opens this Saturday!

#4: Tyrel's brother, Tristan is getting home from his mission in Russia in 11 days! Tyrel is so excited, he keeps thinking it is a week earlier than it really is. We all can't wait to see Tristan, especially Silas, who was only a few weeks old when he left.


#5: Baby Brother is due in 4 weeks! We are so excited for him to be here and Silas keeps talking about bringing him home.

Four Reasons to Love the Si-man

REASON #1: He is a big helper! He wants to help me make dinner, unload the dishes, sweep the floor, change his diaper, and buckle his carseat.



REASON #2: He makes me LAUGH!


REASON #3: He let's Elmo be used as a bribe for many things, like getting him to sleep in his new toddler bed.

REASON #4: He wants to be just like his Daddy. This is a picture of the temple we sculpted for Family Home Evening.

Flip flops and Carhartts

A few weekends ago, we made the trip to Montana for Uncle Woody's funeral. We drove to Rexburg, Idaho on Thursday night and stayed with my brother and sister-in-law (Darian and Cassie). Then we left at 5:00 a.m. to make the 5 1/2 hour drive to Billings. Silas slept all the way to Bozeman which was WONDERFUL!

The only bad part of the drive were the roads! We left Utah with 80 degree weather and were loving wearing our shorts and flip flops. When we hit Island Park, it was snowy and all the way to Ennis the roads were covered with a layer of snow and ice causing us to go about 50 mph the whole way! When we got to Bozeman and made a pitstop, we walked out of the car in our flip flops and shorts through the snow covered parking lot. People in the gas station were wearing their carhartt coats and coveralls and buying coffee. Luckily the rest of the drive was without snow.

Despite the sad reason for gathering, we had a great time with friends and family and Silas sure enjoyed playing with his big cousins.

On the way back, we also ran into terrible weather! When we were about 20 miles out of Bozeman, we hit a huge storm and slowed way down. This picture is from going through Island Park. One minute it would be like this and we could hardly see through the "blizzard" then 5 minutes later it was dry roads, then 5 minutes later, tons of water on the road and an SUV flipped over on its side. We were very glad to get out of Island Park! When we got to Rexburg, we felt like we should be done with our trip and turn to go home. But Tyrel reminded me if we did that, then we would be going home to an apartment half the size of our current one, we would both be in school still, and he would be working nights. I decided I could live with 3 more hours in the car!
