Our Kids Say the Cutest Things

Silas
S:  Mom, is it still Holy Ghost week?
M:  (Very puzzled).  I don't think there's such thing as Holy Ghost week.  What are you talking about?
S:  Yeah Mom, you told me it was Holy Ghost week.
M:  I'm pretty sure I never said that.
S:  You know, where we wear hats to school or our clothes backward?
M:  Oh!  You mean Spirit Week!


S:  (While rubbing my chest, he whispers in my ear)  Oh Mom, good job making lots of milk!
M:  Thanks Si.  But those are private parts.
S:  I know Mom, that's why I whispered!


Logan
The boys were scared from watching "Chicken Little" and worried that bad aliens or robots would come to get them.  Tyrel had to explain to them that Jesus didn't make any aliens.  So now, every prayer that Logan says includes:  "And thank you that Jesus made no aliens."

L:  Dad, why isn't organ leading the music.
T:  Who do you think Organ is?
L:  You know, on that trip that we went to that wasn't to Montana, he filled up our gas. 
(In Oregon the attendant at the gas station fills up your gas).

First Days of School

How is this day already here?  I have no idea.  But somehow I have one old enough to go to school everyday!  Silas started Kindegarten last week and he was sure ready for it.  He had been doing the countdown for about a month.  On the first day, we walked to the school (I LOVE that it takes us 2 minutes to WALK there!)  and there was a flag ceremony in the front, then all the kindergarten students and parents went into the classroom for an open house.  We got to know his teacher, did a scavenger hunt to find things around the class and school, and he even got to pick his seat.  It lasted an hour and then we both went home.  The next day was the "real" first day for him.
We walked to the school and got there right as she was walking the class inside.  It all happened so fast that I said, "Wait, I need a hug and kiss".  He gave me one, then filed inside the big school with his class and I was left standing there with Logan.  It was a little emotional but this year I didn't cry.  Log and I just walked home and each day we have been enjoying some one-on-one time where we play Candy Land and do some Mommy Preschool.  

So far, Si has loved that there is a castle and a keva in the school library, he loves playing tether ball at recess, and he loves his teacher! It has definitely been an adjustment that our life now revolves around school.  We are working hard at getting to bed on time, and I am working hard at rolling myself out of bed in the morning and waking up to an alarm.  I really was so spoiled before!

 I have another little man who also has proved that he is ready to go to school and GLUE things!  The other night the boys were in the office playing.  I should have known better when it was quiet for 10 minutes straight.  When I opened the office door, this is what I found...

 a smiling Logie who said so proudly, "Mom!  Look at all the pictures I put up!"  He had glue stick stuck all these index cards to the door.

 Yesterday, my littlest man started neighborhood preschool.  This week it was at a house he had never been to before with a teacher he had never met.  But he just walked right in and jumped right in...he was ready to be at school like his big brother.  All week he had been wearing his backpack when we walked Si to school.  And every prayer that he said this week included, "And thank you that I can start school and that Si can start school."  Starting school has been very important to him.  At school, he had to make one thing for himself and one for Si.  It was weird after Tyrel and I dropped Logan off, we were driving home with no kids, and they weren't even at a babysitter!  So we came home and got stuff done.    Tyrel also started school a few weeks ago.  He started working on his Master's of Finance at the University of Utah.  He will have classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  It's going to be an exciting and interesting new stage of life we are in.

On Monday Si rode his bike to school and even remembered the combo to his bike lock.  Logan of course has to ride his bike there also, and Mom and Dad are enjoying being walked twice a day!

Fun at the Zoo and Fair

I have been avoiding going to the zoo because it costs SO MUCH!!!  But we heard about these sweet b1g1 coupons so we went for it.  We went with Ray and Grayson on Tyrel's day off.  The kids had a blast, and I didn't melt too much.  The favorite place of all three boys was definitely the park, the bat cave, and watching the otters swim.

 We LOVE going to the fair every year, mostly for the rodeo and the young farmer's exhibit.  Sadly, our boys are old enough to realize that there are also rides at the fair, so we couldn't get away with not emptying our wallets on a few rides.  They sure had the best smiles on them though!  Then we did the young farmer's exhibit and went to the rodeo with Teebo and Aunt Styfe.  Logan is so funny to watch as he claps along with the crowd and to the songs.  He really gets into the music.

Fun with Cousins

As summer was ending, we got to play a lot with our cousins!  Aunt Cassie, Zaylie, and Dakota came to play, but I was silly and didn't take any pictures.  We had fun playing at the park and in the pool and sand box with them!  Zaylie kept wanting to give the boys hugs, they weren't too into it.  But on the way to the park, Zay and Log did hold hands...it was pretty adorable!

Aunt Janet was about to have a baby and Uncle Ray was out of town, so Janet and Grayson stayed and played at our house for a week. Then when the baby came, Grayson got to stay and play some more at our house. I think he started to think he lived here! He and Logie sure loved playing together and got pretty crazy and silly together. The boys also have a new cousin...Brydger Ray King. He is adorable and we are already in love with that little man! Logan could not get enough turns holding him...I think it made us even more excited to meet our little girl in a few months!

Oh What do We Do in the Summer Time?

• 4th of July in Centerville where we saw Captain America and got TONS of candy
• Pioneer Day in Bountiful where we saw the Stripling Warriors marching, there were close to 2200.  It was AMAZING!
• Atomic Days in Arco where we got lots more candy and saw Daddy on his class float.

• Si was in Level 2 of swim lessons and turned into quite the little fish.  He is getting really good at swimming with the help of his teacher and having his face under water.  He is pretty fearless in the pool these days.  He is now taking Level 3.
• Logan was in Level 1 and had a really hard first day of class realizing that Mom and Dad would not be in the pool with him.  He cried the entire time.  Some bribery and he made it through day number two with some smiles.  By day three he loved it and also is turning into quite the little fish, sticking his face under water without plugging his nose and jumping off the side into our arms.  He is now taking Level 2.
• Several times after swimming lessons, we have stayed and swam with the boys for a few hours.  They sure love playing on the pirate ship outside, and going down the big yellow slide with Daddy.

We play at the farm...

• In July we FINALLY made it to the farm.  Tyrel had his 10 year class reunion which included the float in the parade and a picnic lunch where we could visit with his classmates and meet their kids.
• The boys had SO much fun playing with cousins, uncles and aunts, and of course with Momma and Pappa King.
• The big boys had quite an epic water fight, which resulted in Tyrel getting pinned down and having a hose shoved up his pants :)
• And to end it, the boys went fishing for their first time with Daddy.  Luckily Daddy caught a fish at the start so they could at least catch the excitement of "getting a fish".  They both were very jumpy though and didn't want to get very near that wiggly fish.  They used the same Snoopy pole that Tyrel used when he was a boy.

And the latest thing we do in the summer time...

                           is get ready for our LITTLE GIRL!

• We are SO excited for a girl to be coming to our family in December!  The boys can't stop talking about how cool it's going to be to have a little sister.  Tyrel already knows and happily plans on her being wrapped around his finger.  And me, I won't even start to name all the things I'm excited about!  
• My Tia Ery gave me a cute doggie purse that she was getting rid of.  She said that it was for the next baby girl in the family, if mine wasn't a girl, I'd pass it on to the next niece having a baby.  Well that doggie bag is staying right here and I've been going through the hand-me-down clothes that I've been given...it's time to add some pink to this place :)
