Moab 2012

This was our 3rd annual trip to Moab.  We go every year to run the Moab 1/2 Marathon in memory of our sweet nephew Blaze.  The past two years we have rented a condo and just played in Moab for two days with family.  Something we all look forward to!  The boys had the greatest time playing on the giant sand dune.  They both trucked it all the way to the top without being carried.  Silas was the first one there.

Race day was amazing.  The weather was so perfect this year!  It was a little warmer than it has been in the past so we weren't totally freezing while waiting in the canyon.  But it wasn't too hot either.  The only problem was the wind.  The last 2 miles were running directly into the wind which was...annoying to say the least!  Tyrel has two herniated discs in his back so he didn't get to run this year.  So I was very grateful that Steph was running with me!  That girl is AMAZING and I'm so proud of her for running the whole thing!  It was really great to a running as the "Running for Blaze Team" and a good chance to think of our angel nephew as I ran through the canyon.  My other motivation was my brother.  When I started to run mile 10, "Little Wonders" came on my ipod and I instantly thought of Jon and decided that mile 10 was for him.  It was very emotional for me and I soon started running at a 7.5 minute mile!  Well there weren't any mile marker signs after 10 so it turned out that the rest of the race was for Jon!  I had a great experience running the 1/2, but was VERY glad to be done training...I haven't run since!  Thanks Janet and Ray for starting a beautiful tradition!

Momma and Poppa King Come to Utah!

We had a fun visit from Tyrel's parents and a chance to play with Janet, Ray, and Grayson.  They came to Utah and stayed the weekend for Kavi's wedding dinner.  We had a great time playing, and at the Indian wedding dinner, we even got to dress up in saris.  Logan was the entertainment of the night as he debued his dance moves.  That kid can sure shake his little hips!

Jazz Game and Potty Tales

Pa gave us some free tickets to a Jazz game.  The boys loved being there, not so much for the basketball game, but for all the other stuff going on.  Silas was totally satisfied as long as he had the blimp to watch.

And my little Logie Bear is potty trained (except for nighttime)  which doesn't really even count right?
He was so excited about his Thomas undies that he picked out and to sit on his Cars potty seat.  He loved the Skittles he got when he had success and he loved sitting there and having me read "BusyTown stories" over and over again while he sat on the potty.  Our only problem was that after 2 weeks he still hadn't made poop in the potty.  (We were a little tired of cleaning out poopy undies!)  I told him the first time he made poop in the potty that we'd take him out to an eating food fun place.  So finally, he made poop in the potty and we got to go to Chuck E Cheese with Grammy and Aunt Styfe.  Since then, he has had few accidents, doesn't use the potty seat anymore, and likes to pee at the same time as Silas.  One day Logan came out running with excitement.  "Mom!  Si and I both peed in the potty!  Yeah and we made an X with our pee!"  Oh the joys of having boys!

7th Annual Valentine's Picnic

Earlier in the day, the boys invited Aunt Styfe to be their Valentine's Date. 

Then we had our traditional breakfast for dinner picnic and dance party.

Love this tradition! 

My Little Mommy-Preschooler

Logan is not quite in Preschool yet...but he sure likes being a Mommy-Preschooler.  Here's his "current events" at a few months shy of age 3:

• He is getting SO BIG and truely is not a baby anymore!  He helps do big boy things like unloading the silverware, cleaning the table, getting dressed himself, and putting his socks and shoes on without any help.
• He is about an 80% potty trained boy!  He wears big boy Thomas undies, even goes poo in the potty now and only has a few accidents when he just gets too involved in playing.  Still wears a pull-up for nap and nighttime.
• He is in LOVE with his jammies and would never wear real clothes if I let him!  Usually I'll make him get dressed in the morning, but come nap time, he just can't take a nap without putting jammies on.  So I give-in half the time...what's the harm in wearing jammies all day right?
• He's also learning sounds and knows the sounds a, c,t,n,p and LOVES the letters L for Logan, T for Tia (his babysitter), and S for Silas.
• He's my little complimentary boy.  Grammy always points out how he can just make a person feel so good.  Without any coaxing he is always throwing out, "Oh Mommy, you're pretty."  "Aunt Izzy, you look so pretty today!"  "Oh, I sure like your pretty shirt Grammy!" 
• He's also my snuggly boy and loves to come snuggle with my in the mornings...but he's still in the VERY WIGGLY snuggler stage...and I pretend not to but I love it!

My Little Preschooler

It's about time to record some more Silas "current events" so here's all about my litle preschooler who's a few months shy of 5 years old:

• He's turning into quite the joker.  Many things out of his mouth are followed by, "Ahaaaaaa!" 
• He's kind of an honery guy and wants to make sure we know it when he doesn't like something, said, done, asked of him, a song playing, a food on the table, you name it!  Usually it will be accompanied by his "honery grunt!"  He'll grow out of this right?
• He's started to READ!  I've been working with him on a small groups of sounds and using some montessori pink cards.  He is able to sound out some words in this set and can read almost the whole book, "Max" by himself!  I never knew that helping and experiencing a child read would be one of my most favorite things as a mom and a teacher!
• He's turning into a BIG friend.  He has gone over to play at Jake's house all by himself a few times and goes to BIG boy birthday parties without his Mom now.  He's still plenty shy in many situations but has made a lot of progress in doing things without me.
• He is very interested in scripture stories and doctrines of the Gospel.  In primary he was taught about Satan and how he tries to get us to do things we are not supposed to and he has retold that lesson to me on numerous occasion and also asked if Logan wanted to tell his FHE lesson about how Satan tries to trick us.  He loves to hear the story of Nephi going to get the plates and the Stripling Warriors over and over again.  And when I told him that the prophet has asked us to not spend too much time playing video games he understood and made sure to point it out to Logan when he wanted to play PBS kids :)
• He's still great at snuggling!  My Si-Bug is so sweet when he comes into my bed in the morning to snuggle with me.  He's past the wiggly-snuggling stage...yay!
• He's soon to be a Kindergartener!  Yes, I am currently filling out Kindergarten registration...what just happened???!!!  He's doing great in preschool though and will thrive in Kindergarten with all that he will learn!  However, he has informed us that he's not going to Kindergarten because he's NOT going to get a shot (apparently a long time ago I must have told him he didn't need any more shots until kindergarten and he still remembers!)
