Christmas with Jon and Chels

Finally I can add these pictures! We loved having Jon and Chels here for a few weeks over Christmas. We went out to eat at Chili's one evening. Silas made it much less than easy to eat our dinner to say the least! Then we went to Temple Square to see the lights.

On Sunday evening we had a tamale making party at our house. My Abuelita and Tia Ery came over to teach us how to make tamales. Janet and Ray and Darian and Cassie also came over to learn and help. They turned out so yummy and we are planning on making them for Mom King next time we go to the farm.

Silas has finally started eating bananas and in this pic he was being a monkey.

The family threw Chelsy and I a b-day party which was a blast! We had a mystery dinner called "Panic at the Prom" and we all dressed the parts.

Pa was the jock and Chels was his girlfriend the cheerleader and prom queen.

Jon was the greaser kid, he prefered that we call him "Biff" and I was his sister the poor girl who still tries to be fashionable.

Tyrel was the nerdy boy, he preferred us to call him "Poindexter McFly" and Steph was his date, the hopelessly unfashionable girl who tried to be popular.

Mom was the goth kid who always was rolling the video camera, and Izzy was the high school principal who tried to be cool by wearing prom attire from her time.

And at present time we got SEWING MACHINES! Yay! After the prom, Jon (Biff) made Silas workout with him.

Update

Just a little update on our little family. We moved into our new apartment this past weekend and we are almost all settled in, minus hanging things on the wall. We love it and can't believe how big it is compared to our apartment in Rexburg! We find out whether we are having a boy or a girl on Friday and we can't wait! Sorry no pictures right now, I have to wait until we get internet at our apartment so pictures so come shortly I hope!

Merry Christmas!

Silas absolutely loved Christmas! This year was a Vargas Family Christmas. On Christmas Eve we opened our presents at Mom and Dad's house and it was so fun to have Jon and Chels here! Silas loved the opening of the presents and got so excited about all of the toys! After a while, he was so entertained with the toys he got that we had to open his last few presents for him because he couldn't be bothered to stop playing! The first few pictures are from Christmas morning where Silas is playing with his toys from Santa. He got a b-ball hoop which he has been playing with all day! He also got a tool bench and some Seasame Street tools that he likes to use to "fix" the door frame with.

Thanks Aunt Betty for the cute hats!

"Which weighs more? The medicine ball or my new Battles Encyclopedia?"

Tyrel can now officially be a business nerd with his bluetooth and briefcase.

Mom got her new favorite movie, "Dan in Real Life" we especially love the "Ruthie Pigface Draper" song. If you haven't seen it...you should!

I got lots of cute jewelry and clothes that I can fit into!

Tyrel's new pride and joy is this LIFE magazine from 1945.

When you shake this Elmo, he talks.

Silas also loved this Magic Doodle which will definitely be going
in the diaper bag for Sacrament Meeting!

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! Love you!

It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas!

Okay it only took me a few months but I finally changed my background to look a little more like the current season.  There are other things around here that also starting to look like Christmas.  We finally got some snow and Silas, Steph, and I had fun playing in it!  We made a little snowman, made some snow angels, and what Silas loved most of all was to shovel!

Another sign of Christmas is the decorations!  Silas helped Abuelito put up the Christmas tree and then he helped Daddy put ornaments on.  His favorite part of the process was to break the packing peanuts up into little tiny pieces to scatter all over the floor!

Silas and Grammy have been seen dressed as Santa and his elf (and what a surprise, we know who gives the orders in this relationship!)

Every year, Mom King makes us a countdown calendar with candy for each day until Christmas (hanging behind Tyrel's head).  Silas will point to it several times a day and say, "More...mo...more!"  I have to remind him, "Not until Daddy comes home."  But when Daddy does get home, Silas can't get enough of the candy!

And just some random pictures to show what Silas has been up to lately.  If he wants something that is on the counter, he will push a chair over to the stool, then climb up both to get what he wants.

On Friday's, Tyrel gets to work from home, and Silas loved to curl up on his lap and help!

We made muffins the other day, and Silas is a pro at putting the papers in the cups!

A Quarter Century!

On December 7, Tyrel turned a quarter of a century old...that's right, he's an old 25 year-old, or so he goes around saying.  The night before, we had a Brazillian food party.  On Sunday we had cake and ice cream.

A King Family Thanksgiving

We spent Thanksgiving this year on the farm in Idaho.  Surprisingly, the weather was pretty nice and there was no snow!  Some of our activities included shooting .22's, .45's, and a .357.   The boys, Mom King, and Aunt Tammy had a paintball war while Janet and I did some scrapbooking.  We watched plenty of movies, played some TRAINS, and ate lots of yummy food!

Almost

Sorry, no pictures, just words.
I am almost done with student teaching (2 1/2 more weeks, a work sample, and SEP conferences to go). Tyrel is almost going to start his real job. But right now he gets to stay home for 2 weeks and play with Silas while getting paid from his old job. It is almost Thanksgiving and we are way excited for a trip to the farm and a weekend to relax. Silas is almost in nursery! November 22nd here we come!
